During my time working as a psychologist, I have found that building strong therapeutic relationships with my clients is the cornerstone of progress.
I am trained in working with children, adolescents and adults, however, have spent the last several years specialising in working with children and adolescents. I draw from and implement a wide range of treatment modalities such as Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Parent-Child Interaction therapy (PCIT). When working with children and adolescents, I believe that building their understanding of their emotions, whilst providing them with functional skills can have a significantly positive impact of their personal, social, familial, and academic progress. When working with adults, I take a therapeutic approach of helping them understand their behavioural patterns and emotional processes that influence the way they interact with the world. I believe that understanding these influences can lead to changes in behaviours that align with their goals and values and provide an overall better quality of life.
I also administer and interpret neurocognitive tests to assess for cognitive and intellectual functioning (IQ), Intellectual Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disorders (including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Non-Verbal Learning Disorders), and testing for giftedness. As a particular interest area of mine, I believe that neurocognitive testing allows for a better understanding of how your brain processes and interprets information to ensure the most appropriate strategies and supports are implemented to allow for the best chance of success. My neurocognitive testing draws from gold standard assessments around the world and vary depending on the client and referral question.
