I am a Registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar able to work with adolescents and adults across a range of psychological concerns.
My approach prioritises providing an authentic, inclusive and non-judgemental space that meets individuals where they currently are. I work collaboratively with clients to explore what may be contributing to their difficulties, build a shared understanding of their experiences, and find practical ways forward that fit with who they are and what matters to them. My therapeutic practice is informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy. Depending on the client and their goals, this may involve developing a better understanding of emotions and behaviours, working through unhelpful patterns, building skills to manage difficult experiences, or exploring the impact that past experiences have had on the way they see themselves and others.
Alongside therapy, I have a strong interest in educational and cognitive assessment. Assessment can bring together different pieces of information to gain an understanding of a person’s strengths, difficulties, functioning and way of processing information. For me, the most useful part of assessment is not simply identifying and diagnosing whether someone meets criteria, but what those findings mean for them and what supports may be helpful moving forward. I am able to assess for a range of presentations, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Disorders (colloquially sometimes known as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, etc.), giftedness, and exploration of cognitive and intellectual functioning.
